Trumpet Improvisation, C and R Jazz Book and Cd
CALL and RESPONSE JAZZ Trumpet/Flute/Trombone by Clyde Hunt
Call and Response Jazz - Hunt, trumpet and narration - mp3
Though I sincerely doubt that improvisation can be taught, it can be introduced in a straight forward, logical, and non-intimidating manner. Learn through imitation. Play along with the HOT JAZZ rhythm section. Scales, triads, seventh chords, blues form, blues scales, mutes, "swinging", Jazz coloration, and idiomatic rhythms are introduced. Also included is the B-FLAT PRIMER of HARMONIC PROGRESSION. "Play-along" rhythm tracks include the blues in the keys of: B-flat, E-flat, and F. This "Audio Teacher" was developed to introduce 6th to 10th grade level students to the art of improvisation. While Call and Response Jazz was originally conceived and intended for youngsters, it is perfectly useable for any age student having little or no experience at improvization. Six Lesson Exercise Booklet and 60 minute CD = $16.95
A word about the stereophonic recordings from B-Flat Music Production. Our recordings are produced using a pair of Crown PCM Pressure Zone Boundary Mics, which enable all the musicians to sound as if they are all equally close to the mic. The resulting signal is fed into a stereo Tascam mixer. Our first processor was an outboard two channel unit, recording direct to digital audio on a Beta Video Machine. When the Akai Dr4d Hard Drive recorder became availabe we switched to this newer format. As a matter of principle, we allowed no further tampering with the signal, except for a "room size" digital environment: No compression, limiting, or dolby noise reduction.
